Calasanctius College have a very active Green Schools Committee. We have received 7 flags in total and was the first secondary school in Galway to get a green flag. We work alongside the Oranmore Tidy Towns and the other schools in our village to keep it looking good and also to reduce the amount of traffic on our streets.
Our Green Schools Committee is made up of students from every year, the care-takers, DPs and led by Ms de Búrca. We are currently applying for our 8th Flag- "Global Citizenship-Energy". Over the past two years the Committee has worked hard to identify and reduce the energy we use in our school. We have installed two new water fountains and have stopped using single use plastics. We encourage 'Walk to School' days and also to use public transport. We are also hoping to become a Fairtrade school this year.
