As you have been informed the Minister for Education; Ms. Hildegarde Naughton announced earlier this year the continuation of the Free Schoolbooks Scheme for the academic year 2026/27. The aim of this initiative is to remove/reduce the cost from families of funding schoolbooks, including eBooks, and core classroom resources for all students in post-primary schools in the Free Education Scheme.
As a result parents/guardians will no longer be required to make any contribution towards the purchase of required schoolbooks and necessary core resources & stationery, thus negating the need to publish booklists going forward. It should be noted however, that all schoolbooks remain the property of the school and are on loan to students and you may be requested to purchase some items items not comprehended under this scheme, i.e. padlock for school locker, pens, pencils etc. It is also important to remind all parents/guardians/students that there is a clear expectation and responsibility on students that all books provided under this scheme are to be well taken care of and in good re-usable condition when returned at the end of the relevant year/cycle.
Considerable administrative efforts have been ongoing in recent months sourcing, procuring and finalising orders to ensure we are ready for school return, and we would like to thank and acknowledge all those involved, particularly Ms. O'Sullivan. The school has been in recent communication with you about this scheme, outlining what is comprehended. Further communications will issue later in the Summer in relation to the distribution arrangements for the various year groups.
