**What is Apply to School ?**

The applytoschool.ie pilot is a new online system for parents and guardians who wish to apply for a place in 1st Year of post-primary school for the 2027/28 school year.

This is a pilot project initiated by the Department of Education & Youth (DEY), which means it’s being tested in a small number of areas throughout the country. Only selected schools in these areas are part of the pilot. This year the pilot has expanded to encompass the Oranmore area, and as a result Calasanctius College will be participating in this new admissions system. How Do I Apply?

Application is online only via the apply to school schools platform. From 1^st October 2026, you can apply for a 1st Yr school place in Calasanctius College through the Apply to School portal by clicking on the link below.The deadline date for for application for prospective incoming 1st Year students for the academic year 2027/28 is 22^nd October 2026.

Applications for 1st Year 2027/28 will continue to be accepted after this date BUT will then be processed as a 'Late' applicant as per our school Admissions Policy 2027/28 (see below).

Before you commence the online process, we would like to highlight that the system requires specific documents as part of the application process. These documents need to be uploaded by the person making the application when completing the online process, so it is strongly advised that you have these ready in advance to make the process easier and quicker. Timeline for the Admissions Process

The applytoschool.ie pilot will follow set timelines, with applications submitted by a set deadline and places offered over multiple rounds.

The online form for lodging applications will open on 1^st October 2026, and the deadline for the submission of applications will be 22^nd October 2026.

Admissions Criteria/Oversubsription

Under the Education (Admission to Schools) Act 2018, all schools have admissions policies. This policy is approved by the school’s patron and shared with the school community. If a school has more applications than places (is oversubscribed), the school must use their published oversubscription criteria as outlined in their Admissions Policy to determine the order in which offers are made. Each school decides its own criteria and the order of priority. The Department of Education and Youth does not get involved in these decisions.

Prior to submitting any application form all applicants must take time to familiarise themselves with Calasanctius College Admissions Policy and Annual Admissions Notice. Please note, that while this is a common application system, the processing of all applications and subsequent offers is determined solely by the school Admission Policy.

If your child is not offered a place, they will be placed on a waiting list which will be managed by the school in accordance with the Admissions Policy.
