Yesterday (Monday 27th), we were delighted and honoured to welcome an impromptu visit from a former staff member and past Principal of Calasanctius College. Sr Marie King first joined the religious congregation in Oranmore in the early 1960s, and upon entering religious life took the name Sr Augustine. Following her formation, she became a valued member of our teaching staff, where she served with dedication for 18 years, including the final four years as school Principal. Sr Augustine left the school in 1981 to take on new challenges. It was a pleasure to welcome her and her family back and have her share her many fond memories. Her stories offered a wonderful insight into the life of the school in earlier times, highlighting both how much has changed and the enduring spirit that still remains. We wish her continued good health and happiness and look forward to welcoming her back again the next time she finds herself in the West of Ireland.
